THE FESTIVAL
The CIAQ Film Festival in L’Aquila was created to bring cinema back to the people. From 17 to 20 September 2026, four days of screenings, meetings and shared life in the city.
Watching a film is also a collective ritual: sharing the darkness, an emotion, a question. The CIAQ aims to restore this public dimension to viewing, bringing together audiences, filmmakers and professionals.
Palazzo Ciccozzi is one of the locations for this experience. The festival opens up to the city and to local collaborations, so that cinema can become an opportunity for encounter and participation.

THE JURY
A page dedicated to the jury members: their backgrounds, their experiences and their outlook on cinema.
Essayist and film critic
Member of the SNCCI, he collaborates with magazines such as Cineforum, Nocturno and Rumore. Since 2021 he has been involved in the co-artistic direction of the Ravenna Nightmare International Film Festival.
Music supervisor
Following experience at EMI Music Publishing and Sony Music Publishing, since 2022 she has been working as an independent music supervisor. Her work includes The Leopard, Nudes 2 and Sicilia Express.
Still photographer and director
Still photographer for directors like Marco Bellocchio, Emanuele Crialese and Gabriele Salvatores. He received the 2003 CliCiak National Award for Respiro.
Film lecturer and essayist
Creator and director of LIFF and the FareCritica Festival, he is artistic director of RCFF. A juror for the Nastri d’Argento, he has written novels and film essays.
Management office of MAXXI L'Aquila
A graduate with a background focused on Film History, she is completing her Master's degree in Cinema and Media. She is particularly interested in animation and the relationship between cinema and innovation.

In 2022, he founded the OldScratch Studios collective, with which he writes and produces short films. From 2026, he is the organiser and artistic director of the Chieti Horror Fest.
Writer, director and producer · Meleagris Film
Founder of Meleagris Film of Naples, he wrote and directed the documentaries Maurizio – Sarrism: a marvellous anomaly (Sky Documentaries) Marco Rossi – A child at the funfair (DAZN); its new documentary is The Castel di Sangro miracle. Selected at Biennale College – Venice Film Festival 2023, he teaches production and pitch techniques at the DAM Academy in Naples.
L'Aquila retains a vibrant cinematic memory, linked to Una città in Cinema: the festival conceived by Gabriele Lucci and carried out with the La Lanterna Magica Film Institute between 1981 and 1990.
A history crossed by masters such as Michel Piccoli, Ettore Scola and Néstor Almendros. The CIAQ gathers the value of that encounter between cinema and the city and brings it into the present, with a first edition open to new perspectives.
The project weaves together cinema, spaces and expertise: Simonfilm's audiovisual production, Spazio Indipendenza at Palazzo Ciccozzi and LGF's digital capabilities.
From these meetings, a festival takes shape that engages with local organisations and invites the public, professionals and the community to build new cultural opportunities.
The CIAQ aims to promote the region as a place for production and co-production, developing dialogue with film commissions and the audiovisual supply chain.
Its focus is on international collaboration and the context of major festivals — Cannes, Venice, Turin, Berlin and Rome.
